How to take a taxi from the airport:

There is a small podium on the left as you get out of customs that says “Ground Transportation”. It is run by the government and has set prices, and it is the ONLY taxi service from the airport to anywhere. But their cars do have AC and are comfy ( for the bumpy road that can be nice). You pay for the taxi at the podium (780 pesos or dollar equevelant) and take your ticket and go out side, straight ahead, all of the taxi’s are right out front and although it seems a bit confiusing at first, soon one of the taxi drivers will grab you and you will be off.

Tell the taxi driver that you are going to “Troncones” and then add “Manzanillo Bay” they might know our place by name “El Eden” but probaby not. There is only one road in Troncones so it is impossible to get lost. You will find us!

Following are directions on how to get to Troncones and Eden, the Taxi driver will know how to get to Troncones no problem, so just sit back and relax untill you see the ocean. (then make sure that you turn right).

You are arriving at the Ixtapa/Zihuatanejo International airport. We are located approximately 50 kilometers (30 miles) north. Follow highway 200 north towards Zihuatanejo (stay to the left at the first fork in the highway right out of the parking lot), After about 3-4 miles you will go through a bit of Zihuatanejo (about three major stoplights worth) then you will go out of town and up a big hill, at the top of the hill is an exit for Lazaro Cardenas to the right, take it!

After about 24 Kms or 15 miles you will pass the village of Buena Vista (you have already passed Salitrera and Pantla), continue on for about 6 kilometers (4 miles). After a church on your left, and some bee hives on your right, begin looking on your right for the TRONCONES sign.

Turn left and continue on a small almost one lane paved road road for 3 kilometers (2 miles) to the village proper. Turn right at the beach and pass over a steep bridge, follow the road for 4 kilometers (3 miles) (you will pass, Casa Ki, La Casa de La Tortuga, and La Casa Delphin Sonriente, and Regalo del Mar and many many others), after a bit you will come to a fork stay on the right, and you will find us after a quarter of a mile more on the left, we have a very long green wall, you can’t miss it. It should take you about 50 minutes to arrive from the airport.

Car rental from the Airport

For car rental, I recommend Hertz (1-800 654-3131) they are not necessarily the cheapest (about 50$ for a VW) but they are dependable and can be picked up and dropped off at the airport, which will save you a 70$ taxi fare one way and 40$ the other.

Bus

If you are traveling around Mexico by bus, get to the Zihuatanejo bus station, from either Acapulco or Lazaro Cardenas.

If you are coming from Lazaro, after about 40 miles you will pass the town of Lagunillias, following is the entrance to Troncones , yell to the driver to let you off. There is no bus from the highway to Troncones so you will have to wait for a ride, but there is lots of traffic and you shouldn’t have to wait long.

If you are coming from Acapulco, you will arrive in Zihuatanejo, and then need to find a bus to Lazero Cardenas.
